The 7th Kyokushin Challenge Tournament in Ellensburg

Northwest Kyokushinkai will host an open tournament on Saturday, April 5, 2008 at Ellensburg High School in Ellensburg, WA. There will be three divisions: traditional full contact bare knuckle (no punches to face), ring-style (face striking with hand pads and throws), and semi-contact (full padding; for children and youths only). International Karate Organization - Matsushima founder and 9th dan Kancho Yoshikazu Matsushima will be the guest of honor. United States IKO-Matsushima Branch Representative and 5th dan Shihan John Adams will also be in attendance. Entry fee for knockdown division is $35, ring-style division is $35 and semi-contact is $25. Full details of the tournament are available at the Kyokushin Challenge website. The 3rd Kyokushin Regional Tournament in Ellensburg

The Ellensburg dojo will host an open tournament on Saturday, September 29 at the Morgan Middle School Gym. Format is full contact with padding. There will be two divisions: general division (hand and shin pads and headgear, no punching to face and no throws) as well as a ring-style division (hand pads, headgear (possibly), punching to face plus throws). United States IKO-Matsushima Branch Representative and 5th dan Shihan John Adams will preside over the tournament. Entry fee for general division is $15, ring-style division is $25. Annual Kyokushin Challenge Tournaments

Northwest Kyokushin has set up a website for information on the annual Kyokushin Challenge tournaments. The Kyokushin Challenge is becoming the premier knockdown fighting tournament in the Pacific Northwest, and is open to all styles. For more details, please visit the tournament website.

The 2nd Kyokushin Karate World Cup

The best fighters in the world will convene in Syndney, Australia to compete in the 2006 Karate World Cup. Delegates from many countries will pit their best fighters against one another in one of the premier karate tournaments in the world. The historic Harbour District in Syndney promises to be a fitting backdrop for the world-class competition that will take place in the Sydney Entertainment Centre on November 4th and 5th. The 5th Kyokushin Challenge

The Northwest Kyokushin - Seattle dojo will be hosting a martial arts tournament at the Seattle University Connolly Center on April 29, 2006. The Kyokushin Challenge is becoming the premier knockdown fighting tournament in the Pacific Northwest, and is open to all styles. The 4th Kyokushin Challenge

The Northwest Kyokushin - Ellensburg dojo will be hosting a martial arts tournament at the Ellensburg High School gymnasium on April 2, 2005 from 10am to approximately 6pm. This tournament is open to all styles, and will involve both point divisions (kata, self defense, weapons kata, and point sparring) as well as bare knuckle full contact kumite.

The 7th World Open Karate Tournament

The 7th World Open Karate Tournament will be held in Japan on November 27 and 28 in Isesaki City, Gumma prefecture in Japan. Fighters from many countries around the world will compete in one of the most prestigious karate competitions in the world. Four Central Washington University competitors have been named to the United States National Team: Collin Smith, Sarah Woolley, Cameron Smith, and Tomoko Tanikawa. Sensei Ian Quitadamo will serve as a U.S. team coach.

Mas Oyama Memorial Gold Cup

To commemorate the 10th anniversay of Sosai Mas Oyama's passing, Shihan Roman will be hosting the 2004 Mas Oyama Memorial Gold Cup in Monteal, Canada.
