Travel and Area Information

Initial Arrival Plans

Arrangements should be made to fly to Sea-Tac Airport (SEA) which is about two hours away from Ellensburg. Transportation is available from Sea-Tac through shuttle or bus. For more information regarding services please visit the Aiporter Shuttle website at www.airporter.com or the Greyhound Bus website at www.greyhound.com.

It is advisable to arrive at CWU on the Friday before classes begin. This is when residence halls open. If arriving in the Fall, you can experience many of the activities during Wildcat Welcome Weekend.

Some students choose to spend a few days in Seattle before coming to CWU. You may do this, of course, but you will be on your own. There are many hotels to choose from in the area. Many students prefer to stay at the downtown Youth Hostel near famous Pike Place Market. It is suitable for students and very affordable.

Other Travel & Events

Many trips and events are planned through the International Center. Be sure to check with your international exchange advisors about any upcoming events. The International House and the International Student Association also plan many events that you are welcome to help with and participate in.

There are a variety of fun things to see and do in Washington State. Mariners baseball games, snow sports, and hiking are just a few. For more information on events in the area, you can visit the Ellensburg Web Site.
