Program Site:

Image of the Shimane Women's College Shimane Women's Junior College is located in Matsue City, on the western side of the main Japanese island, Honshu, in Shimane prefecture. The city is host to several historical treasures including the Kamosu Shrine, the Kiyomizu Temple, numerous renowned teahouses, Buke Yashiki (a samurai residence) and the Fudoki-no-oka Museum.

Exchange Program:

Faculty teach basic conversational English and American culture. No previous experience teaching in those areas is required.

Language of Instruction:

Bannai in Taisha Town English.

Language Notes:

No language requirement.

Length of Exchange:

Exchange faculty will commit to Fall and Winter quarters.

Accommodations:

Image of Kagura: sacred music and dance performed at Shinto shrines. Shimane Women's Junior College will provide a furnished apartment near the campus.

Application Process:

Applications are due during fall quarter. Faculty are encouraged to pick up CWU applications during Spring or Summer quarters of the year prior to the exchange.

Conditions:

Central Washington University faculty will retain their salary and benefits. The Office of International Studies and Programs provides roundtrip airfare to Matsue City for the selected participant.
