Safety and Health ManagementWelcome to the Industrial and Engineering Technology (IET) Department and the Safety and Health Management (SHM) curriculum. These web pages were prepared to supplement information found in the university catalog and were intended to assist students in planning and completing one of the degree or certificate programs offered within the SHM curriculum at the main campus in Ellensburg and the university centers at Lynnwood and Des Moines. The information contained in these web pages is not a substitute for the catalog or class schedule. It is each student's responsibility to become familiar with dates, deadlines, regulations, and rules contained in the university catalog and class schedule. Upon acceptance to Central Washington University, you should have received a printed copy of the catalog. Intercurricular study is an integral part of the SHM curriculum. SHM is one of several curricula within IET, which also includes Construction Management, Electrical Engineering Technology, Industrial Technology, Mechanical Engineering Technology, Industrial Education, Master of Science in Engineering Technology. IET is part of the College of Education and Professional Studies (CEPS) and is housed primarily in the Hogue Technology Building. In these web pages, you will find current news and events, information regarding admission and transfer to one of the five SHM degree and certificate programs, you will be able to review the requirements, availability, and progress information regarding the five SHM programs, SHM course information and availability, SHM faculty and advising information, information on the student section of the American Society of Safety Engineers and other student organizations, facilities related information (e.g. locker availability and laboratory space), scholarships available for students, career outlook and opportunities, and the curriculum assessment process.
