Presidential Address to Classified Staff
Dr. Jerilyn McIntyre will speak to classified staff Tuesday April 22, 2003 at 10:30 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. and 2:30 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. in the Lombard Room. An American Sign Language interpreter will be provided at the afternoon session. It was learned there could be a problem with the centers live hook up due to wires being cut. Steve Douglas will attempt to make repairs prior to the address.
Len Thayer Small Grants
Rob Lowery volunteered to prepare the grant for the Len Thayer Small Grants to help fund the employee council's community building project.
Campus Community Building Program Discussion and Spring Round-up
The Spring Round-up gives teams participating in the Campus Community Building Program a chance to see how everyone has succeeded in their project. The Spring Round-up is scheduled for 9:00 a.m., April 24, 2003, in Group Center. All team members and their supervisors are invited to attend.
Ginger Sutton, Facilities Management Custodian, was awarded Employee of the Month for March 2003.
Ginger is always friendly, courteous, and is willing to go out of her way to help. She continuously watches out for the safety of others and she promotes a positive image of CWU by her consistent good job in keeping her areas clean. Ginger has rescued and cares for various species of plants, which she has placed along the western windows of the first floor creating a warm and friendly atmosphere in an otherwise sterile environment. Her conscientious attention to her job helps create a good impression and generates a sense of pride in this building. Ginger is an excellent custodian who comes to work every day with a smile and is ready to do her job. She takes pride in keeping her area in great shape, and represents our department in a very positive and professional manner. Her positive "can do" attitude helps promote harmony in the work place.
Employee of the Year Update
There was some discussion about the process for the employee of the year. It was recommended that after the process was completed this year that we form a committee to review the process and meet with the selection committee to see what they felt worked and what didn't, and then make recommendations back to the council. Dorothy Tenney will chair the committee. Other members will be: Lisa Stowe, Cheri Lince, and Uriel Hernandez.
Parking Advisory Committee
Crystal will report at next month's meeting.
For the good of the order/new business
Safety committee is looking for one civil service member who is not covered under a bargaining unit. (Those in the BU I & the BU II seats on the Safety Committee are appointed by the Union.) This committee normally meets monthly or as needed. The safety committee deals with safety issues not resolved by supervisors. If interested, please contact Ron Munson (x2252). If you have questions in regard to whether you are in a bargaining unit, check the Human Resources Labor Relations website at: http://www.cwu.edu/~hr/labor/labor.htm
