TOPICS DISCUSSED

EMPLOYEE OF THE MONTH PROCEDURES –
Council reviewed Employee of Month selection policies and procedures. Suggestions from the previous meeting of July were discussed. Dorothy Tenney moved that the procedures be approved as changed. Marilyn Thompson seconded, motion passed.

EMPLOYEE OF THE YEAR PROCEDURES –
Council reviewed procedures and policies considered during last meeting. Further changes were added. Karol Barker moved the procedures be accepted as changed, Ginger Linnell seconded, motion passed.

NEW EMPLOYEE OF THE MONTH AWARDS –
Geri Palmer was selected as Employee of the Month for April. She works in Catering and Special events and was described as "going above and beyond the call of duty almost every day while working with the public, employees and staff at CWU. Geri manages a team of employees with confidence and always looks at the positive side of things. She is a very good listener and tries to help you in any way she can. Geri has performed the functions of her management position eagerly with lots of energy. She is a self directed and motivated individual who does not need constant supervision or direction."

Myrna Antonich, from the College of Arts and Humanities, was selected Employee of the Month for May. Comments made by her coworkers were: "Myrna does an excellent job of keeping the dean's office organized and running smoothly. She is especially helpful to departmental secretaries, making it easier for them to do their jobs. She has an ability to be very effective with the computer. She is always cheerful, extremely efficient, and a joy to work with. "

"Her shrewd insights, incomparable good sense, fair play, and compassion make an extraordinary difference. She also has assumed a supportive role in mentoring the classified staff across our college, leading workshops, and providing training and nursing people through their probation periods."

Congratulations to both of you! It is great to work with such wonderful staff at CWU. The winners for June and July will be selected at the next meeting.
