INTRODUCTIONS OF NEW AND RETURNING COUNCIL MEMBERS
New members Celia Johnson (alternate) from Student Health and Counseling
Center, Ginger Linnell (representative) from Academic Services and Dorothy
Tenney (representative) from Facility Management were introduced to the
Council. The Council discussed changing the Employee Council meeting
time. Some members feel that 2:00 p.m. is a hard time to leave work.
This issue was tabled until the next meeting when more members are present.
ELECTIONS OF OFFICERS AND PUBLICITY CHAIRPERSON
Elections were held for the upcoming year and results are:
Chairperson - Kariann Taylor
Vice Chairperson - Dorothy Tenney
Secretary - Leona Johnson
Reserve Secretary - Celia Johnson
Publicity Chairperson for Employee of the Month Program- Gene Wilson
DISSEMINATION AND DISCUSSION OF BYLAWS
A copy of the Bylaws was distributed to all members and time was taken
to read them. No problem areas were noted. Ona Youmans has
suggested that a Bylaw Committee be formed to review the bylaws for any
language that would conflict with the CWU Employee Union. The committee
will be Ona Youmans, Dorothy Tenney and Ginger Linnell.
EMPLOYEE OF THE MONTH
Dr. James Norton, Interim President, confirmed that the President s
Office would continue to support the Employee of the Month Program.
Bob Guptill was selected as the Employee of the Month for August.
Bob is the Sports Information Director for Athletics. He is described
as taking pride in his work well beyond the norm and continually strives
to do his work better, smarter, and faster. To access the Employee

PICTURES OF EMPLOYEES OF THE MONTH AND YEAR ON THE WEB
Pros and cons of having the pictures of the employees of the month
and year on the Employee Council Web page were discussed. Finally
it was decided to table the discussion until the next meeting when more
members were present.
PRESIDENTIAL SEARCH COMMITTEE UPDATE
Marilyn Thompson presented an update on the search committee.
Nominee names are being accepted by the President s Office, and applications
and information about the position will be sent to the nominee. This
information is also being sent out to people inquiring on their own.
The committee hasn t started to review the applications received yet. The
next Search Committee meeting will be in October and they hope to have
a pool of candidates to present to the Board of Trustees in January 2000.

PRESIDENTIAL ADDRESS TO THE CIVIL SERVICE STAFF
Paula Moffatt will look into a scheduled date for the address.
A committee of Celia Johnson, Kim Thomas and Kariann Taylor will start
to work on the room arrangements and speakers. Possible speakers
were suggested and will be approached.
HUMAN RESOURCE ANNOUNCEMENTS
Open Enrollment begins October 18th and will end November 19th.
If you want to change Health Care Plans or add dependents, be sure to do
so during this period. The CWU Benefits Fair will be held October
28, from 10 am to 3 pm in the SUB. Put this date on your calendar
now.
