EOTM 2004 : June |
Barbara DemoryEmployee of the Month for June 2004Secretary Senior for Law and Justice. Barb is the glue that holds the Law and Justice Department together. She is the only support person for our department, which includes over 400 majors, seven full-time faculty members and more than a dozen adjuncts, scattered at five locations including campus, Yakima, Lynnwood, SeaTac and Steilacoom. She maintains the base that grounds all of us, given our different locations, and provides us with the consistency that is hard to maintain with remote locations and assorted issues that vary for each of us. Barb provides us with technical support as well as emotional support. She is always there. The students love working with her because she is always there and willing to take those extra moments that can be so important when a student is in crisis. She does the same for faculty. Barb provides harmony for the workplace. She is an important communication link for the entire law and justice faculty. With so many students and so few faculty members, Barb is the point person and the answer person when there are university requests of the department. She is our diplomat throughout campus. She takes pride in her work and never complains about the demands everyone makes of her. When she says she is going to get something done, it is done. |
