Classification/Compensation : Temporary/Hourly Pay

When a department has a need to hire an employee under the provisions of temporary employment, a brief position description must be submitted to Human Resources for review for appropriate title and salary.

Salary / Title

Approval for job title and rate of pay must be received from Human Resources prior to a commitment being made.

If there is a comparable civil service classification (job titles), the hourly pay rate will normally be set at step A of that classification. A pay rate at a step higher than entry level for the class may be granted based on the experience of the employee selected.

If there is not a comparable civil service classification, the hourly pay rate will be determined by Human Resources in conjunction with the hiring department.
