Planning for Retirement : DRS members

If you are a member of the PERS, TRS or LEOFF retirement plan, you will be entitled to receive a pension that will replace part of your salary at retirement. The rules governing your plan, including when you are eligible to retire are described in the Plan Booklet. To estimate whether your pension, along with Social Security and your personal retirement savings are likely to meet your income needs in retirement, you can follow the step-by-step method or get a rough estimate with the salary replacement method.

Investment Choices for Retirement Plan Savings
If you have a Supplemental Retirement Plan (SRP) or Deferred Compensation Plan (DCP), you are required to make investment choices to manage your retirement savings. Health Insurance During Retirement
You can maintain your current employee medical and dental insurance during retirement on a self-pay basis. Note that the cost during retirement is far more than the cost during employment, when the university pays the majority of the premiums.
