First Six Weeks Program

First Six Weeks Program: Residence Hall Staff collaborate with faculty and campus-wide staff to facilitate programs in the residence halls that address the academic and transitional issues first year students typically face the first six weeks of the quarter. Topics for each of the six weeks include the following:

  • Week 1: Safety & Personal Wellness, Combating Sexual Assault, Navigating Campus: Professors & Classes, Goal Setting: Why am I Here?
  • Week 2: Freedom vs. Homesickness, Living with a Roommate, Time Management, Note Taking, Study Skills.
  • Week 3: Finding an Academic Advisor, Making Responsible Choices, Alcohol, Sex, Relationships, Body Image.
  • Week 4: Stress Management, Procrastination, Making It Through the Quarter, Diversity: What Makes Us All Individuals.
  • Week 5: Choosing a Major, Career Testing, Academic Advising, Campus Resources, Living Within a Community.
  • Week 6: Campus Involvement, Campus Activities, Campus Resources.
