Past Graduate Students

Graduates from Central Washington University’s History Department Masters Program do not only graduate with a MA in History, rather they graduate with a key to open many doors in their future. Here is what some of our past graduate students have done.

  • McKayla Sutton: The Shannon Hydroelectric Scheme and Irish Nationalism, 1925-1931 (MA, 2009) McKayla Sutton is starting PhD work in Irish history at Marquette University in the fall of 2009.
  • Patrice Laurent: Indigenous Labor and Coffee Plantations in late 19th Century Chiapas (MA, 2007) Patrice Laurent is an instructor at CWU and Yakima Valley Community College.
  • Rachael (Birks) Morgan: Dance and the Cuban Revolution (MA, 2007) Rachael (Birks) Morgan is currently teaching German and Social Sciences at Hanford High School.
  • Katie (Pittner) Marney: Yoga in Colonial and Postcolonial India (MA, 2008) Katie (Pittner) Marney is pursuing Masters of Library Science degree at the University of Arizona, and is a History Instructor at Pima Community College.
  • Kristen Erickson: Women and Ulster Unionism in the 1910s and 1920s Kristen Erickson is the Librarian at North Bend Public Library.
  • Tamara Caulkins: Buffon and Natural History in the 18th Century (MA, 2009) Tamara Caulkins is pursuing PhD work at the University of British Columbia.
