The scholarship recipient shall be selected from students enrolled on a full-time
basis, majoring in History. and, who must be of junior or senior standing,
for the entirety of the 2008-2009 academic year. Selection shall be from
students who have shown outstanding academic abilities, and where possible,
an interest in American History on the local, regional or national level.
The scholarship, where possible, shall be awarded to financially needy students. The recipient of the award shall be required to complete a research project
on a topic related to rural history. This project can be done for credit
by enrolling in History 395, Research in Local History. Deadline:
APRIL 7. Applicants should submit the following to
the Financial Aid/Scholarships Office located in Barge Hall, Room 103:
- List of History courses taken and grades for each course;
- Honors and awards;
- Letter to the History Department Chair that includes a statement of why you are studying history and how you meet the selection criteria, including an indication of your financial need;
- List of three references in the Department of History at CWU who are familiar with your work;
- official transcripts from CWU, community colleges and other universities attended; and

In honor of Professor Harold Barto and Martha Barto, this scholarship will be
awarded to a history major who will be a senior for the entirety of the 2008-2009
academic year and has an excellent scholastic record. The amount of the award
will be determined by the resident tuition and fees schedule for a normal class
load (no more than 18 credits per quarter) for 2008-2009. Deadline: APRIL 7. Applicants should submit the following to the Financial Aid/Scholarships Office located in Barge Hall, Room 103

- Statement as to how your college career is being financed;
- Statement concerning financial need;

In honor of Professor Floyd Rodine, this award will give priority to graduate
students for research and travel costs expended for research related to their
study of history at Central Washington University. Deadline: May 5. Applicants should submit the following to the Department of History located in the Language & Literature Building, Room 100T:
- List of History courses taken and grades for each course;
- Description of the historical research you have undertaken for study at CWU;
- What course was this work done for?
- What costs did you incur?
- Enumerate specific amounts you expended;
- Attach receipts for expenses incurred;
- List three references in the Department of History at CWU who are familiar with your work.
