Rhonda McKinney, M.S., LMFT - Director of Counseling Services
I received my undergraduate degree in Psychology from California State University, Stanislaus and went on to receive my M.S. in Counseling from that same institution. I became licensed in the State of California as a Marriage, Family & Child Counselor and worked in a number of different settings. Eventually I ended up back at Cal State Stanislaus and worked for six years in their Counseling & Career Development Center. I am currently licensed as a counselor in Washington State and serve as the Director of Counseling Services here at Central. I love my job and thoroughly enjoy working with students on a variety of different issues.

Melissa Anderson, M.A., LMHC - Mental Health Counselor
Hello! I'm a Washington State native, born and raised on the "wetside". I lived in Montana for a number of years before returning to the drier side of the Cascades. I feel very fortunate to be able to live and work in an area with so many outdoor recreation opportunities.

My academic studies began with a degree in forestry and eventually drifted to degrees in geology, fine arts and psychology. I received my BA in Psychology, here at CWU, and my Master's in Counseling Psychology from Antioch University-Seattle. I have enjoyed working at CWU for the past 13 years.

When not at work I love traveling to Alaska and Colorado and spending summers kayaking in Montana. I also do a lot of reading (the quirkier the better!) since I don't have television at home. During the school year I start each day at our awesome, new SURC gym working out and rock climbing.

I identify myself as a Northwesterner, though I grew up on the east coast. As soon as I arrived in this general region I felt uniquely at home. I have a wide range of interests in psychology but have lately focused on mindfulness, mind/body psychology and the relationship between psychology and spirituality. I love movies and especially love to see great acting and great writing, and I also love a wide variety of music, with a recent emphasis on old school R&B, soul music, and New Orleans style piano blues.

Pat Cole, Ph.D. - Psychologist
Hi! I am a Midwesterner by birth - born in South Dakota, 8 years of university education in Ohio. However, I have chosen a lot of different geographic areas to add spice to my life. I studied German through Middlebury College in Vermont; this included 10 months at a university in Germany during which time I was a Fulbright Scholar. I have lived in California, Ohio, Kansas, Alaska, Oregon and now Washington. I have twin sons who provide me the opportunity to travel - one graduated from Macalester College in Minnesota and is now living in Seattle, and the other graduated from Cornell College in Iowa and is a functional potter making wonderful things in North Carolina. I received my PhD from Ohio State University and have been licensed since 1978. My professional interests reflect my practice settings as I have always worked in rural areas and needed to be a generalist. I work out regularly, enjoy cooking, petting my cat Stubbi, and traveling.

Owen Dugmore, Ph.D.
I earned my degrees at the University of Utah - B.A. in biology and chemistry, M.A. in educatonal psychology and Ph.D in counseling psychology. I have been a counselor and instructor at Central since 1968. My main professional interests are in counseling, the psychology of adjustment and the psychology of relationships. Otherwise, I am interested in English, philosophy, history, music, and theater arts and look forward to seminars, concerts and plays on campus. I have a season ticket to the Seattle Opera, and I am surrounded at home with books and discs (mainly classical). I am more & more convinced that certain books and certain ideas really are superior to - and more enduring than - others.

Randy Robinette, Ph.D. - Psychologist
Born and raised in Indiana. Left home after high school in 1968 to see the world via an all expenses paid tour provided by the United States Air Force. After four years in the Air Force I started college which ultimately resulted in a Ph.D. from the University of Kansas. I reentered active duty with the Air Force in 1981 and worked as a psychologist - both a counseling psychologist and a neuropsychologist - for 16 years until retirement in 2001. I've lived in Indiana, California, Guam, Kansas, Texas, Oklahoma, Germany, Nevada and now Washington. Although I don't make the time for recreation as often as I'd like, I do enjoy biking, hiking, backpacking, woodworking, recreational reading (history), cooking and travel.

Megan Schmidt, Psy.D. - Psychologist
I received my Doctorate in Clinical Psychology from Pacific University School of Professional Psychology. I have worked at two other university counseling centers in the Pacific Northwest, as well as a variety of other settings. Working in a university setting is by far my favorite! Although originally from the East coast, I have lived in the Pacific Northwest for the past 7 years and consider it my home. I enjoy all forms of movement including contact improvisation dance, yoga, running, and hiking. The outdoors and my relationships are both important to me. I'm passionate about literature and human rights issues.

I grew up in a rural Northern California but lived in Portland, OR for 15 years prior to moving to Ellensburg. This year I’m working to complete my doctorate in Clinical Psychology from pacific university. I enjoy working with students of all ages and from diverse backgrounds—I believe that everyone has a unique story. I see counseling as an opportunity for you to explore your values and practice expanding your experience of yourself in a safe environment. Personally, I have many hobbies and interests: I am a lifelong musician but currently enjoy learning Brazilian Jujitsu and building racers for adult soapbox derbies.
