Graphics Productions: Integrated Marketing Plan - Procedures

CWU Integrated Communication Plan

Process and Structure for Implementing Graphics Standards and Editorial Guidelines

The university recently has adopted a new look, which is described in its revised graphics standards and editorial guidelines. The president has delegated responsibility for their implementation to the vice president for university relations. The office of public relations and marketing will assist the university in implementing the new standards and will have primary responsibility for review of all university publications.

To ensure that all members of the campus community are informed about and able to use the new graphics standards and editorial guidelines, the office of public relations and marketing is providing a series of announcements and presentations about CWUs new visual identity. The main goals of these presentations are to convey the values and importance of presenting a consistent institutional image; establish the universitys new visual standards and guidelines; provide graphic tools for the campus to use in implementing the new look, and inform campus of the role of the full-service marketing and communications capabilities of the office of public relations and marketing.

Individual units may continue to develop their own communication materials. However, during the initial phases of implementation of the new standards, units are asked to work closely with the office of public relations and marketing from the beginning of their project to ensure that surprises dont occur later on in the process. As units become familiar with the new standards, they can exercise greater autonomy during initial stages of development. However, all brochures or other publications that represent the university must be approved by the office of public relations and marketing before they are printed in quantity or disseminated. Specifically, the following individuals or their designees will assist with and approve materials:

  • The director of public relations and marketing (or designee) will have final approval authority.
  • The director of graphics productions (or designee) will assist with and review graphic design, photography, video, and printing in all mediums.
  • The CWU Web developer (or designee) will assist with and review changes or additions to the university'ss Web structure and architecture.
  • The director of publications (or designee) will review and provide editorial assistance on written material in all mediums.

For questions regarding the program and/or assistance in developing publications, contact the office of public relations and marketing at 963-1493 or bwatson@cwu.edu.
