Jazz History Month Web Resources
The Smithsonian Museum of American History, in conjunction with a number of partners including but not limited tothe American Library Association, National Public Radio, the National Endowment for the Humanities, is sponsering the first Jazz Appreciation Month. The April Jazz month offers libraries an opportunity to feature jazz magazines, local jazz musicians and a chance to join local colleges, universities and arts centers in featuring music in a community-wide celebration.
- Smithsonian Jazz Portal
- Portal to a variety of jazz information, jazz events at the Smithsonian, with links to jazz education sites, professional associations, and more.
- Smithsonian: Jazz Appreciation Month
- Excellent site. Includes a This Day in Jazz History section. Jazz FAQ, and lots of links.
- The National Museum of American History Archives
- Also from the Smithsonian, this rich archive documents America's diverse popular and musical tradition and performances, containing images, music, and lyrics of American life and culture between 1790 and the 1980s.
- Jazz Appreciaton Month Calendar
- Directory of events in the month of April, 2002, both at the Smithsonian Institution and in selected states nationwide.
- NPR Jazz
- National Public Radio's online jazz programs and information site.
- JazzTimes Magazine
- Leading jazz magazine full of jazz reviews and articles.
- JazzPlus
- Online jazz portal featuring recordings, webcasts and music downloads.
- All About Jazz
- Jazz magazine and online resource.

- American Federation of Jazz Societies
- International non-profit organization whose mission is a) to promote and support jazz through a variety of activities; and b) to foster mutual support among jazz organizations by managing a network for sharing information, resources, and techniques.
- International Association for Jazz Education
- "IAJE initiates programs which nurture the understanding and appreciation of jazz and its heritage, provides leadership to educators regarding curriculum and performance, and assists teachers, students, and artists with information and resources."
