JCreator User Manual

Installing JCreator

JCreator comes in two versions: a LE freeware version and Pro version.

The Hebeler Computer Science Labs uses the freeware version which is available as a free download from Xinox Software.

1. Download the JCreator LE freeware installation zip file and save it on your desktop.
2. Right click the downloaded file and use the Extract All .. wizard to extract all the files to your desktop.
3. Click to run the Setup program to install JCreator with its setup wizard. I accept all the default options.
4. Check Launch JCreator LE when the setup wizard completes.
5. The first time you run JCreator LE on your home computer, you will need to set up JCreator similar to the way we did in lab.
6. You may now safely delete the downloaded JCreator installation folders on your desktop (both the zipped folder and the extracted folder)

JCreator Pro is also available for download and costs $35.00 as academic pricing for students. While the Pro version provides additional features, I recommend students begin with the free LE version to gain a better understanding of the fundamentals of object-oriented programming. After you master the fundamentals, you may wish to upgrade to the Pro version. Our CS 110 and 111 programming exams will be done in the labs using JCreator LE.
