JCreator User Manual

Installing JCreator at Home

Many students like to use their own computers to complete the programming assignments. All the software used in CS 110 and 111 is Windows-based, freeware, and available over the Internet. These instructions are provided should you choose to install the Java and JCreator software on your own computer.

With new installs, these five steps should be done in the following order:

  1. Install the Java SDK
  2. Install the Java Documentation
  3. Install JCreator program
  4. Install the CS 110 Project Template
  5. Install the textbook's jpb package

Several of these installation files come in compressed format (*.zip) that will need to be extracted. Windows XP comes with its own "unzip" extraction software that will work fine.

With older versions of Windows, you may also need to download and install an "extraction" utility software program such as Winzip or PKZIP.
