Group Software Project

As a group, the class will develop a large software application using open-source software for CWU Disability Support Services. A Group Project page is accessible from the class wiki.

Academic Service Learning

Individually, or in small groups, perform an academic service-learning project related to assistive technologies.

Accessible Application

Design and implement one to three simple accessible applications that use assistive technology. Each project should be about 10 hours of effort.

Examples of possible projects include

  1. Develop a voice-enabled web application with Opera
  2. Use SAPI to create a voice-enabled windows application
  3. Using SAPI XML TTS to develop a speaking application
  4. Creating a simple switch accessible computer game
  5. Performing a Web accessibility audit for a web site using auditing software and visual inspection
  6. Creating a windows or Web application using word prediction
  7. Researching and developing an application designed for older users
  8. Using Ajax to enhance accessibility
  9. Creating a zoomable user interface
