My
Hobbies
I have
quite a few interests -- perhaps too many -- to list everything
here. But the following continue to hold my interest,
even though I don't have as much time to devote to them as
I would like.
- Web
designing. I have designed several
sites by now, and I keep learning new things (and buying
new software -- and hardware) all the time. On my Web
Design page, you'll find a few of my favorite links to
web sites whose authors know far more about html and
java than I ever will.
- Comparative
mythology and ancient religions have interested me
for quite a while. On my Literary
Resources page, I have listed a few good books and
some really interesting links.
- Astrology is
another longstanding interest of mine. The form of
western astrology we use most commonly today in the United
States first originated in Greece during the first Golden
Age. Its symbolism derives from various ancient Mediterranean
belief systems that are thought to be much older. The
Greeks made no distinction between astrology and astronomy. They
knew it was possible to predict future events (like the
coming of spring, for instance) by watching the sky. They
began casting personal horoscopes (as opposed to those
cast for rulers) in keeping with the Athenian belief in
democracy. If you're interested in learning more,
see my Etcetera. . . . page.
