Here are some ideas that I liked and would use in my physical education program.

Elementary School Web Sites

Consolidated School of Physical Education, New Fairfield, Conneticut

Has an early intervention physical education program that they make available to 3-5 year olds.  This is a physical activity program that meets for 30 minutes of activity once a week.

Glengary Elementary School, Walled Lake, Michigan

This school posts a “Skill of the Week” up on their web page.

Middle School Web Sites

Christa McAuliffe Middle School, Palm Beach, Florida

A parental note can only excuse a student for a maximum of three (3) calendar days in a row. A doctor’s note is required for a longer period of time.

James Madison Middle School, North Hollywood, CA

Fitnessgram Fitness Test that they give to their 5th, 7th, 9th grade students to test physical fitness.  This test is given in the months of March and April, but the students are given a pre-test in the fall months, so that the teachers can then compare the two.

This school also issues gym wear to their students for both cold and warm weather.  Like the idea how having a uniform that way there is equality.

High School Web Sites

Sycamore High School

This school has a swim suit policy that I think I would use in my class.  This applies to the boys and the girls having certain types of swim suits.  I like the idea of the girls having to wear a one-piece bathing suit.

Have an intro physical education class that is fitness based.  You don’t have to be the super athlete to succeed in this class.  Required by all students, this course concentrates on aerobic conditioning, muscular fitness, body composition and flexibility. Students will explore these areas in the gym, lab, and classroom. Units on cardio games will also be taught.

Oxnard Union High School

Has a wide variety of choices for their PE students.  This school provides 8 team sports, 12 Individual sports, and Dual sport activities, as well as 6 physical fitness choices

Worland High School

This school has a warm-up activity entitled “Dot Drill” that is done prior to every activity for warm-up.

This school also provides courses with instruction in these great water activities, kayaking, canoeing, and rafting.
