Directions: Here is a list of computer-related vocabulary that you will see in the movie THE NET. Use one of these online dictionaries of computing to look up any of the words you don't know before you watch the film.
There are two goals for this lesson. One goal is for you to have practice looking for computer vocabulary definitions using online dictionaries. The second goal is for you to learn some computer-related vocabulary which will help you understand the movie when you're watching it.

Look for the section called the "Jargon Lexicon" and use the alphabetical index in this page to look for the words by the letter they begin with.
ILC Glossary of Internet Terms
You will find the definitions of "Router" , "IP number", "Domain Name" here.
Introduction to the software engineering glossary
Has a difficult definition of "TCP/IP" with other links within the definition.
Free Online Dictionary of Computing
has a text box you can enter your enter your word in and then click on search. For example you can look for subnet and you will get a defintion.
