Meet Us
Nan Doolittle, Program Coordinator
DoolittN@cwu.edu
Welcome to the CWU Family Resource Center!
As the FRC's first Program Coordinator, my initial work is to hear your voices and your stories.
What do you need? What's working for you? How can we support you and your family?
My personal experiences include being raised by grandparents in my early years, being a single mom in college, having a long marriage, getting divorced, losing my only child (age 31) to cancer, being a grandmother, and being the significant other of a widower with children.
I celebrate, honor, and support all healthy and growing family configurations. Please come by, call, or send a note online to me at the FRC.
Christina Thresher: Intern
I am currently a senior at Central Washington University, double majoring in Sociology and Family Studies. At the moment I am preparing to enter the working world, I graduate in June of this year. Hooray! When I am not working at Arnolds Ranch and Home, which is an awesome place of employment, I am spending some great quality time with my weenie dog, family, and friends. I hope to take my education further later on in life and obtain my masters degree in Gerontology. Family is the quintessential element to life; they are the constant love, support and guidance that get us through the worst of times and walk beside us during the best of times.
Brooke Shannon: Intern
Hello, my name is Brooke Shannon. I’m currently a senior here at Central Washington University majoring in Family Studies with a minor in Spanish. I am excited to graduate in the spring and begin the next chapter of my life working with young children and families. When I’m not occupied with school, work, or volunteering at the Family Resource Center I enjoy reading, scrapbooking, and spending time with my family and friends.
Summer Buntin Stuebs: Intern 2008-2009
I am a Family Studies major at Central Washington University. I am thrilled to be a part of the family Resource Center. This is a program that I wish was in place during my first few years here at CWU. Aside from being a student, I am the mom of a 2 year old, a wife; I work very part time, and am a dog owner. Life is very busy, but I would not change a thing. I believe that in life we do not get the people we want. We get the people we need; to teach us, hurt us, love us, to make us cry, to make us laugh, and to make us exactly the people we should be.
Yadira Vargas: Intern 2008-2009
Hello, my name is Yadira Vargas. I am currently a senior majoring in Family Studies with a minor in Social Services. I was born in Mexico, but was raised in Yakima Washington since the age of three. I love learning about families; the differences in cultures, traditions, and beliefs. I find it quite fascinating that as different as families can be, we are also alike in so many ways. I enjoy spending my spare time with friends and family, I like scrapbooking, and anything artsy.
Kristina Johnson: Intern 2008-2009
Hello, I’m Kristina Johnson. I am a transfer student coming from Yakima Valley Community College. I am a junior double majoring in sociology and psychology. I was raised in Moxee, right outside of Yakima. My goal is to be a family counselor. I love helping people. My other love is my nephew, Harley.
