Foreign Language Faculty Scholarship - $500

 

Eligibility:

·     Declared major in a foreign language.

·     Currently enrolled in 3rd or 4th year level language classes.

·     Have taken a minimum of 10 credits in major language courses at CWU Ellensburg campus.

·     Have a minimum 3.25 GPA overall and a minimum 3.5 GPA in major.

·     Will be enrolled at CWU for Fall 2006.

 

Application procedure:

·     Fill out this page.

·     Attach a copy of current transcripts (official or unofficial).

·     Write an essay in English of at least 200 words in which you clarify your purpose(s) in studying a foreign language, your career plans, and what receiving the scholarship will mean to you.  Also, please describe any relevant foreign language experience, e.g., travel, study abroad that you have completed or plan to complete. Please note that financial need is NOT used as criteria for these scholarships.

 

Evaluation of applications:

Applications will be evaluated in three areas with equal weight given to each area:

·     Overall GPA

·     Major GPA

·     Quality of essay

 

Please return this application, the required essay and current transcripts to the secretary of the Department of Foreign Languages by 4:00 p.m., February 24th, 2006.  The recipients will be notified spring quarter, 2006.
