Family and Consumer Sciences Studies Specialization
ELLENSBURG, Wash. - Starting Fall 2007, the Office of Continuing Education and the Department of Family & Consumer Sciences will offer a Master of Science degree with a Family Studies Specialization. This program is designed for individuals in the social sciences who are interested in becoming trained professionals who work with individuals and families to promote well-being and positive interactions in families.
The program emphasizes the ten content areas set by the National Council on Family Relations (NCFR) to meet standards for Certification as a Family Life Educator. The program takes a multidisciplinary approach and prepares graduates for employment in state and federal social service positions, non-governmental organizations, and in the administration and evaluation of community programs serving individuals and families across the lifespan.
