Academic Custodial Services

The Custodial Services Department provides general cleaning services, custodial maintenance, and transportation services in academic areas at Central Washington University. The Department consists of three crews, providing services from 4:30 a.m. to 1:00 a.m. Monday through Friday. There are also two employees from Custodial Services providing services Saturday and Sunday from 5:00 a.m. to 1:00 a.m.

General Housekeeping Crew - general housekeeping in all Academic and Administrative buildings

• Daily clean and sanitize all restrooms, showers and locker rooms.
• Daily clean instructional labs, classrooms, secretarial areas and common areas.
• Weekly clean private offices.
• Unlock buildings Monday through Friday. Unlock reserved areas.
• Empty garbage, recycle aluminum and plastic.

Custodial Floor and Carpet Crew - cleaning of hard floors and carpets in all Academic and Administrative buildings

• Scrub, strip, and wax hard floors.
• Shampoo and extract carpets and upholstery.
• Lock buildings and unlock and lock reserved areas as requested.
• Perform special cleanup of reserved areas and general housekeeping.

Custodial Maintenance/ Transportation Crew

• Building entry way maintenance including snow removal.
• Change light bulbs and tube lights.
• Perform swimming pool maintenance at Aquatics.
• Inventory and repair of classroom furniture.
• Pick up and disposal of gargabe and recycle.
• Move furniture and surplus pickup as scheduled.
• Fire extinguisher maintenance.
