I Find Sleep

Before I find sleep
I see illusions of red
days and unfinished dreams.
I slip in, lights off.
My hands find your waist,
my heart your eyes,
my toes your knees.

You hold on like you
haven't seen me in awhile.
Your arms, my unspoken rivals,
your palms, my memories.

When I find sleep
I am still,
like one who knows how
to stay.
