Paulus Pimomo
Professor of English
Paulus Pimomo was born in Nagaland, grew up in northeast India, and was educated in India and the United States. He received a B.A. Honors and an M.A. in English from Dibrugarh University, Assam, and a second M.A. and his PhD from Southern Illinois University at Carbondale. He has taught English in five universities: two in India, before migrating to the United States in 1984, and three in the States since. You might say, then, that his only legitimate claim in life is to the teaching profession, since society does not grant the status of professional parent with only two children even if they are male and female, nor professional husband with one wife however lasting. He teaches British literature (Victorian and after), postcolonial studies and African American literature, and a bit of theory. He enjoys playing table tennis with three colleagues in the department, and walks off defeats on the John Wayne Trail in Ellensburg, which his doctor says he needs more of, but his colleagues know better and are very considerate. He enjoys levity on the page, on occasion, because life is essentially serious, and at his age he realizes there isn't much left of either life or levity.
