Reading Minor

This minor satisfies the endorsement for reading. The reading minor, with campus and field experiences, is designed to prepare reading teachers and strengthen background preparation of elementary teachers. Because EDRD 308 is a prerequisite for eight required courses (EDRD 410, EDRD 411, EDRD 412, EDRD 413, EDRD 418, EDRD 421, EDRD 440, EDRD 493 & the department approved electives) and EDRD 309 is a prerequisite for seven required courses (EDRD 410, EDRD 411, EDRD 412, EDRD 413, EDRD 418, EDRD 421, EDRD 493 & the department approved electives), the minor should be commenced in the junior year. *EDRD 493 also requires permission of the department (designated as the instructor of EDRD 493). Permission will not be granted until four required courses in the reading minor, excluding prerequisite courses, are completed or will be completed the quarter prior to enrollment.
