Department of Education : Professional Education Program |
Professional Education ProgramThe purpose of the Professional Education Program is to prepare prospective teachers to become facilitators of learning within the school and community. The Professional Education Program curriculum provides opportunities to acquire the pedagogical knowledge and skills that allow students to demonstrate a positive impact on P-12 student learning. To this end, the program offers information about and experience in integrating research and "best practice" based pedagogical constructs, for a spectrum of diverse learning situations. Since EDCS 300 is offered only in August-September, students should enroll for EDCS 300 prior to their junior year. Student teaching is completed at one of the approved off-campus locations. Check the University catalog for course descriptions and pre-requisite information. Some courses must be taken in sequence. Consult your education advisor for assistance in developing an academic plan.
