Placement Information
The Office of Field Experiences acts as a liaison for students who are requesting field placements for both the Pre-Autumn and Student Teaching experiences at Central Washington University.
Districts vary widely in their approaches to fulfilling placement requests, so it is imperative that students not become involved in this process. There are areas on both the Pre-Autumn and Student Teaching applications for students to indicate preferences and/or requests. Please note, however, that these are only requests, and the Office of Field Experiences does not guarantee a placement in any particular district for any particular quarter.
Placements are made solely at the discretion of the districts where requests are made, and only if those requests are initiated by a University Field Supervisor hired through the Office of Field Experiences. Students, their parents, personal friends, or other faculty/staff at CWU are not permitted to act on behalf of students requesting Pre-Autumn and Student Teaching placements.
It is important to note that placements in the Kittitas Valley are made by a random drawing and are limited to 8 per quarter. Only students who indicate Kittitas Valley is their number one request area will be entered into the drawing.
Extenuating circumstances (personal housing, transportation, child-care, financial needs) will not be considered when requesting placements for any district, but particularly for Kittitas Valley districts.
Please access the links on this page for additional information on areas of availability and restrictions regarding placement requests.
