- Rebecca and Ginni Erion met earlier in the week, because Ginni was not available to make this meeting, to discuss student teaching concerns that some of the Kittittas Valley Superintendents have. Rebecca stated that the superintendents would like to see the students have a practicum that would involve teaching some lessons in class before they student teach or a year long internship. Rebecca stated that the internships are very costly but would be an ideal plan, and she is looking for money to support this plan. Rebecca also stated that the cooperating teachers are stating that they are finding the students teachers don't know about the grade level equivalences and she explained to Ginni the equivalences were just presented to higher education in the fall. Another concern is the students don't know the WASL and EALRs, but Connie state that the students receive this information throughout their teacher education program. Rebecca has a meeting with all the superintendents to discuss all student teaching issues. There will also be a meeting with the three deans, Robbi Demertrio, & Connie Weiner, the instructors of EDCS311, to a line 311 with the content and methods courses. Rebecca is also meeting with Foreign Language and Science Education faculty to see if a pilot program to involve them in student teacher supervision will work.
Don Black has been meeting with each district to discuss student teacher placements and he and Connie are reviewing the school contracts.
