Yellow Room Sample Activities:

We are doing a winter theme that includes holiday traditions, snowmen and winter animals such as penguins  and polar bears.

Fingerprinting Flurry:

Directions: Give each child a sheet of dark colored construction paper and white washable paint on a tray. Draw several lines on the paper that intersects at the same point. Encourage the child to use the lines as guides and make fingerprints along beside the lines to create our unique snowflake.

Goals: Fingerprints and snowflakes are similar because there are neither two snowflakes nor fingerprints that are exactly alike.

If you were a Snowflake:

Directions: Post the question "What do Snowflakes do?" during a group time and brainstorm the possibilities. Have the child imagine that he/she is a snowflake and record his/her dictation on their page. After, we encourage them to illustrate the story.

Goal: Creative thinking, self expression, encourage communication between home and school.
