The Great Central 'Stache Off!
For the month of MANuary!
Showcase Feb 28 - TBA

This event encourages men to grow their best mustache in the name of Testicular Cancer Awareness. There will be various prizes for competitors in three categories. 1) Junior high award 2.) Best in show 3.) Most creative/innovative, The contest will conclude at the end of February with an awards ceremony where prizes will be awarded. Show us what kind of a 'stache you can grow!

A children’s activity zone is being offered during basketball games during the month of January.  There will be plenty of activities to keep the children entertained while you enjoy the basketball game.  There will be a qualified staff to watch and entertain the kids.  Arrive early we only have a limited number of spots!

We will be making Valentine's Day cards and mailing them to Loveland, Colorado, to be stamped with a special cachet and forwarded on to our valentines! We will provide the envelopes and stamps - bring your imagination, your list of valentines (and their addresses), and any stamps, pens, colored paper, magazines, etc. for making awesome cards!

This workshop will explore the ideas of work and leisure.  Stacy Sleigh-Layman has worked at CWU for the last 16 years.  She will talk to students about how to take a breath and look at weekends, shopping and vacations as forms of being lazy.  She will also talk about the importance to take the time to be lazy.

Life as an Older Student

Jen Gray, Senior Director of Gift and Estate Planning at CWU knows what it is like to balance a schedule as an older student.  Jen started at CWU when she was 41 years old, she worked a full time job and was also managing a family when she graduated with honors then went on to recieve her master degree from Central.  In this presentation she will be discussing her obstacles, solutions her decision to attend. and also the benefits of graduating.

2nd Annual LUNAFEST

LUNAFEST is a film festival for, by, and about women. Short films are brought to you by Luna bar and the CWU Center for Student Empowerment. Nine (9) short films will be shown this year! Tickets will be sold throughout the month of February.  All proceeds benefit the Breast Cancer Fund.  Last year LUNAFEST raised over $150,000 nationwide.

Women's Rights on the International Stage: An Historic Perspective

Dr. Ellen Carol DuBois, Professor of History at the University of California, Los Angeles, presents on how the international women's rights movement has been one of the most vital dimensions of global efforts to advance human rights since the mid 1990s. The lecture will cover the historical background to the contemporary phenomenon of the international women's rights movement and the achievements of international women's rights in making women's rights part of the larger battle for human rights.
