Non-Traditional Student Programs
- Family-Friendly Campus Initiative
Central Washington University is committed to making our campus accessible and family-friendly. Visit our office to learn more about available changing tables, high chairs, ramps, and lactation stations around campus. Visit our office for a copy of the family-friendly map and kid-fun walking tour today!
- Non-Traditional Student Welcome Carnival
This program, which happens at the end of every September, was created as an opportunity for students and their families to be welcomed to Central Washington University while making valuable connections with other students, student clubs and organizations, and faculty and staff.
- National Non-Traditional Student Week
This week in early November is aimed at bringing awareness of what is a Non-Traditional Student and to show
support for those students. During National Non-Traditional Student Week there will be a number of program for non-traditional students.
- Operation Elf
This program is for Non-Traditional Students and their families to be able to get together. Each December, after finals week, students and their families gather for a magical evening that includes dinner, gifts, live music, a visit with Santa, and games for both the children and adults. Registration starts in November.
- Out to Lunch Speaker Series
The Out to Lunch Speaker Series (formerly known as the Brown Bag Lecture Series) is a selection of casual presentations and workshops designed to highlight topics of interest and need for non-traditional students. The presentations will be held at a convenient location on campus around the noon hour. Students can grab a bite to eat and come listen in and get ideas! There will be at least one Out to Lunch program per month, so be on the lookout!
- The Quest Newsletter
The Quest is a free montly publication from the Center for Student Empowerment aimed at connecting non-traditional students to the university and community. Subscribers recieve The Quest at the beginning of each month, or they can access the PDF version online through our web site.
- Early Childhood Learning Center (ECLC)
We believe that by providing CWU student, faculty, and staff parents with high quality childcare, we assist them in pursuing their university studies and classwork without undue anxiety about the welfare of their children.
- Alpha Sigma Lambda, Psi Delta Omega National Honor Society
Alpha Sigma Lambda has chapters at over 250 universities throughtout the United States and provides the opportunity to recognize the special achievements of adult students. Alpha Sigma Lambda acknowledges adult students who accomplish academic excellence while facing competing interests of family, work, and community.
