Mission Statement

The Center for Student Empowerment educates and facilitates students' development outside of the classroom regarding: gender relations, social constructs, identity, age, equity, societal expectations, domestic violence, sexual harassment and family dynamics.

The Center strives to empower all individuals to explore and challenge personal ideologies, values and beliefs preparing them to live in a diverse inclusive global society.


Goals

  • Provide progressive opportunities to educate campus community on gender and non-traditional student issues.
  • educate and examine how gender and societal issues impact persons from diverse backgrounds.
  • Educate students about sexual harassment and domestic violence.
  • Facilitate the growth of students by encouraging critical thinking.
  • Create a model educational and nurturing facility for families and children of CWU students. (Early Childhood Learning Center)
  • Continue to assess and evaluate the center's programs, services and functions.
