How to File a Complaint
Central Washington University is committed to honoring the rights of all persons with disabilities. However, individuals need to know that if they feel that they have been discriminated against based on their disability, they have the right to file a complaint. Problem solving can be provided by the Human Resources representative for the area in which an employee works. (Bouillon Hall, Room 140 or 963-1202 or http://www.cwu.edu/~hr/ ) The Omsbuds Office can also attempt to help employees solve problems. (Barge Hall, Room 215 or 963-1466 or http://www.cwu.edu/~ombuds/ ) At CWU, there are two ways to file a complaint. The first way is to deal with the complaint internally, using the university’s own system. They may contact the Office for Equal Opportunity. (Barge Hall, Room 211, phone: 963-2205 or TDD 963-2207 or http://www.cwu.edu/~oeo/ ) They will have the option of initiating an informal or formal complaint. Regardless of whether an individual chooses to use the CWU internal process, the option is for the individual to file a complaint with an outside enforcing agency. To file a complaint under Washington State Law, the individual should contact:
Washington State Human Rights Commission or Washington State Human Rights Commission To file a complaint under Federal law, the individual should contact:
