Dr. Gerry Stacy |
Gerry began his teaching career as an instructor at Western Illinois University in 1965. He has spent the past 42 years both as a faculty member and a senior administrator at six colleges and universities before settling in as Dean of Graduate Studies at CWU in 1990. In 1995 he moved to the English Department as a full professor and has been the lead teacher for the DHC freshmen for the past three years. |

Dr. Robert Brammer |
Rob Brammer believes studying one thing is boring. With degrees in economics/business, theology/philosophy, and education/psychology, he now writes fiction and publishes articles and books on multiculturalism, sexuality, health psychology, counseling, yoga, technology applications, and religion. After receiving his Ph.D. from the University of Southern California (Fight on), he moved to Texas, where he developed flatplainsitis. The condition ended in 2006, when he became the director of Mental Health and School Counseling at Central.

Dr. Mathew Manweller |
Assistant Professor; BA in Economics from Whitman College; MA in Political Science from the University of Montana; PhD in Political Science from the University of Oregon in 2003. Matt's research interests focus on constitutional law, democratic theory, and political economy. His more important skills and interests include fly fishing, backpacking, and ultimate frisbee.

Dr. Laila Abdalla |
Hailing from the snows of Canada and the sands of Egypt, Dr. Abdalla is a member of the English department faculty. She received her doctorate from McGill University, Montreal, in 1997. Her expertise lies in English medieval and Renaissance culture and literature. Dr. Abdalla enjoys Shakespeare, cats, hockey and sunshine, although not necessarily in that order, and certainly not simultaneously. |

Dr. Matthew Altman, Director |
Matt Altman completed his undergraduate work at Albion College in 1994 and received his Ph.D. in philosophy from the University of Chicago in 2001. Since he arrived at CWU in 2003, he has taught in the philosophy department and the William O. Douglas Honors College. Dr. Altman specializes in modern intellectual history, particularly Continental philosophy from Kant to Nietzsche. He also works in ethics and applied ethics, social and political philosophy, and the philosophy of art. He has published articles on Kant, Fichte, Marx, and Nietzsche, among others, and his _Commentary on Kant's 'Critique of Pure Reason'_ will be published later this year, in the fall of 2007. Currently, Dr. Altman is writing a book on Kant and applied ethics, and is coauthoring a book on Freud and German philosophy. |
Dr. Aaron Montgomery |
Aaron Montgomery grew up in Southern Oregon just 6 blocks from the Oregon Shakespeare Festival. He attended Pomona College in Southern California, studying abroad at University College in Oxford England during his Junior year. He received his B.A. cum Laude with honors in mathematics in 1989. He then received his M.A. from the University of Wisconsin-Madison in 1991 and took a year-long leave of absence during which he taught at Memphis State University and Shelby State Community College in Memphis, Tennessee. He returned to University of Wisconsin-Madison, receiving his Ph.D. in mathematics in 1997. From 1997 until 2000, he taught as a Visiting Assistant Professor at Purdue University North Central in Indiana. In 2000, he started working at Central Washington University in the Mathematics Department.

Ms. Ruthi Erdman |
Originally from Portland, Oregon, Ruthi began teaching at CWU in 1988. In addition to DHC, she has taught English Composition and Literature, Theatre Appreciation, Western Culture 16th-19th Centuries, Women's Studies, and several enrichment courses on the silent era in film. She was delighted to begin teaching the DHC sophomores in 2005 and now enjoys teaching the seniors. She has two children, Tiffany, a senior at Gonzaga University, and Jonny, a sophomore at Central. |
Christina Denison, Secretary Senior |
Ms. Denison arrived in Ellensburg in the Fall of 1990 as a Central student. After an extended break in her education, she returned to Central and earned a Bachelor of Science degree in June, 2000. In February, 2006, after having worked many years as a legal assistant in the local legal community, she was hired as the office assistant for the Douglas Honors College and in February, 2007, Ms. Denison became the secretary for the DHC. She has two daughters and her husband Jim is a local attorney. |
