The Primate Behavior & Ecology
Major at Central Washington University is an interdisciplinary
approach to non-human primates, captive and free-living, and
of their relationships with the environment.
The Primate Behavior and Ecology program offers Primate
220 as an introduction to laboratory procedures for Central
Washington University students. The 2-credit course requires
that the student work four hours per week at the Chimpanzee and
Human Communication Institute and attend a weekly safety meeting.
PRIM 220 is a core requirement of the Primate and Ecology major.
Catalog Description for
PRIM 220: Introduction to Primate Laboratory
Procedures (2 credits) Laboratory procedures to ensure
physical, social, and psychological well being of captive non-human
primates:
sanitation,
safety, medical care, diet, USDA requirements, and socio-psychological
factors. Requires 1 hour meeting and 4 hours of lab per week
plus an organizational meeting and up to 8 hours of weekend
lab over the
quarter.
PRIM 220 is offered during Fall Quarter of each academic year.
