Everyone can make a difference in the lives of our fellow animals,
even kids! Below you can find out how you can help the chimpanzees
at CHCI. You
can also click on the links provided and find out how others are helping
animals and the environment. Get involved - it's FUN.
A story from Julie Blystad, a teacher at Seattle's Bertschi School,
and a recent Chimposium participant:
One of our 4th graders who made the trip to CHCI brought in her Nickelodeon
Magazine. On the last page was a picture of young chimps dressed up
in human clothes and they were doing some kind of performance. She
told the class that she had written a letter to the editors complaining
about the picture and all the kids cheered for her. This would never
have happened if she had not been exposed to the Next
of Kin Curriculum!
The Chimpanzees at CHCI are provided with enrichment everyday. You
can help provide enrichment objects for the family.
Please visit the object enrichment page on the Friends
of Washoe site for ideas about
what you can donate.
Here
is a collection of links especially for kids who would like to help
animals.
The Chimpanzee Collaboratory also invites you to sign
a petition
to help keep chimpanzees out of movies and television.
