The elementary level "Next of Kin" curriculum is an interdisciplinary science curriculum with interactive and engaging lessons for 2nd - 5th grade students.

The curriculum is written and organized to present integrated concepts focusing on free-living and captive chimpanzees as well as issues regarding animal experimentation. The activities are designed to promote awareness, attitudes, and actions to solve the problems that not only chimpanzees, but all animals, are faced with, whether living in captivity or living endangered in their natural environments.

This unique and comprehensive curriculum can be ordered through the Chimporium gift shop. A printed version of the curriculum is available for $39.95, or a PDF version on CD-ROM is available for $14.95, both plus shipping costs. Please allow 2-3 weeks for delivery.

Please feel free to try out our two sample lessons from our "Next of Kin" curriculum.

1+1= Fun - This lesson is designed to increase the students understanding of how Washoe and her family use ASL (American Sign Language) to describe objects.

Making Masks - This lesson helps students identify characteristics of chimpanzees' faces and apply this to an art project.
