CWU - YakimaWelcome to the CWU-Yakima Center. If you are a newly admitted student please review the information listed below to find out what steps you should take next.New Student Orientation:New student orientation is done before the beginning of every quarter. Fall Orientation it is in early September; Winter Orientation is in mid-December; Spring Orientation is mid-March. A letter will be sent to new students advising them of the date(s) and time(s) of orientation.First Term Registration:The CWU-Yakima office will register new students for their first quarter during the new student orientation. Students will need to complete a registration form and return it to the CWU-Yakima office. After the first term, students will be able to register for classes on their own.Applying for your major:Major application forms must be completed by students entering the Elementary Education, Law and Justice, Business Administration or Accounting programs. These forms are available at the CWU-Yakima office and the CWU Forms Directory website. After completing the form, return it to CWU-Yakima office.Acceptance into a particular degree program:
Acceptance into programs leading to a degree:Business Administration & Accounting - DTA including ACCT 251, ACCT 252, BUS 241, BUS 221, ECON 201, ECON 202, MATH 153 or MATH 170 or MATH 172Financial Aid:CWU- Yakima has a financial aid counselor in the office on Thursdays. Please call 574-6894 to schedule an appointment.Student Parking:CWU - Yakima students can purchase a student parking permit from YVCC at a cost of $30.00 per year. With this permit students can park in the YVCC student parking lot. Parking in this lot is available on a first-come, first-served basis. Students can also park for free on 12th Avenue and on Arlington Street. There is also a pay lot available off of Arlington Street, behind the softball field. The rates are $1.00 for 0-3 hours -- $2.00 for 3 hours or more.Office Hours for CWU - Yakima:Our regular office hours are Monday - Thursday 8:00 a.m. - 5:30 p.m. ---- Friday 8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m. Our phone number is (509) 574-6894.Student E-mail Account:Every student admitted to CWU has access to a free CWU GroupWise e-mail account. GroupWise is the main e-mail source for CWU students. This will be our form of communication to you to advise you of important dates such as class and registration information, advisors coming to CWU - Yakima, classroom assignments, class cancellations, and graduation application deadlines. It will be important for you to check your CWU e-mail on a regular basis. If you don't have Internet access at home, you can use the computer labs in the Deccio Higher Education Center to access your e-mail.Wildcat Information Network (WIN):The WIN network is your source for personalized student information that includes your financial aid, class schedule, grades, CAPS report, and more. Fall Quarter 2002 was the last quarter that grades were mailed out automatically. If you want your grades mailed to you, you will need to complete the Request for Mailed Grade Report form each quarter. Grades will then be mailed to you 2-3 weeks after the quarter ends. We can again assist you in getting logged into WIN.Advising:If you have a specific question regarding course substitution, classes you need to take or graduation requirements please contact your advisor. Connection Card:Your Central Washington University identification is the Central Connection Card that includes your student identification number and photo ID. The Connection Card Student ID number is required for registration on REGI and access to the YVCC Computing Lab. If you don't have your Central Connection Card, please call our office to make an appointment to have your picture taken so your card can be issued.Computing Lab:The YVCC Computing Lab is open to CWU-Yakima students in the Deccio Higher Education Center. Lab hours are:
Students will need their Central Connection Card along with a Quarterly Student Lab ID card (a new Lab ID card is issued every quarter) for access. Both cards can be picked up in our office. Please remember that no food or drinks are allowed in the computer lab. Central Washington University (Main Campus) Toll Free Number:The toll free number for the main campus in Ellensburg is: 1-866-CWU 4 YOU (1-866-298-4968) This office is staffed 8am-5pm, Monday through Friday. You can then be transferred to any department on campus. |
