The WIN-WIN Computer Replacement Program
NOTE: All old computers replaced with new WIN-WIN systems will be sent to Surplus and will not be reassigned on campus. Absolutely no exceptions!
The goal of The WIN-WIN Project is to replace the older computers on campus with new computers that adhere to, or exceed, the CWU campus standard hardware and software configuration. The receiving department will be charged a total of $380 for a CWU standard configuration computer. Information Technology Services (ITS) will pay the balance.
ITS will have a number of computers in stock and will be able to deliver and install them at the earliest possible time arranged between Computer Support Services (CSS) and the department receiving the new computer. CSS will send an e-mail to users receiving new computers requesting an appointment to deliver and setup the new computer. If you have any questions, please call Bill Miller, 963-3490 or e-mail millerw@cwu.edu for clarification.
The project will replace old computers identified by ITS, that are connected to the CWU network, and that have a CWU Tag# less than 80000, or approved by Lynn Linnell.
All state funded academic and administrative departments qualify for this program. Self support departments
need to contact Lynn Linnell to see if they qualify.
All computers being replaced will be sent to Surplus by Computer Support Services. These computers will not be reassigned and will not come back onto campus for any reason.
All systems delivered under the WIN-WIN program will meet or exceed the CWU standard configurations.
For standard configurations go to: http://www.cwu.edu/~css/pcormac.html
Please note: standard systems do not have a floppy drive.
Custom PC/Macs or laptop computers will be treated as Special Order items. Departments will be sent a charge credit from ITS for the total cost of the equipment plus tax less $380.
There will only be 1 trickle down cycle allowed for any computers purchased in the WIN-WIN Project. The old computer MUST go to Surplus and be removed from the campus. The new computer may be placed at the receiving department's discretion, but the computer it is replacing can only trickle down (replace) one other computer within the department. If you need an explanation of the "trickle down" process, please call Lynn Linnell at 963-2991.
The receiving department will pay $380 for each new computer with ITS paying the balance. If the computer being replaced does not have a valid Norton Anti Virus license that can be transferred the department will also have to pay $40 for the Norton Anti-Virus. These situations are expected to be rare.
If a department has additional system requirements and decides to special order a new computer they must pay all additional costs.
