This is an exciting time for the Counseling Programs at Central Washington University. Both the Mental Health and School Counseling programs are accredited by the Council for Accreditation of Counseling and Related Educational Programs (CACREP). The School Counseling program is also accredited by the National Council for Accreditation of Teacher Education (NCATE) If you have questions, read through the program handbooks

We usually accept eight students a year in mental health and four students in school counseling (all of whom start in the fall). Some of our students also elect to complete a dual program and seek an MS in mental health with certification as a school counselor. This additional work can be completed in two-three additional quarters.

Both programs are 90 quarter hours, and they are closely aligned. Many of our students choose to complete both programs (earning an MS in Mental Health Counseling with School Counseling Certification). If you are prospective student, click here for more information.
