The Grad Finale is an important event that no graduate should miss. Its main purpose is to provide one setting for graduating students to get their cap and gown and take care of all their graduation needs. There will be representatives from the following university departments: Alumni, Career Services, Financial Aid, and officials in charge of the graduation ceremonies. In addition we will have representatives from Jostens providing class rings and graduation announcements, Elite Frames with high quality, affordable diploma frames to showcase one’s treasured diploma with the pride and distinction it deserves, and for the first time, Classic Photography, who will take graduate portraits right at the Grad Finale event. There is no need to make an appointment for a sitting. Classic Photography will have cap, gown and tassel for you to wear at the portrait sitting done right there at the Grad Finale.
When you buy one of the Wildcat Shop's diploma packages, you will receive your cap, gown and tassel free. This applies to both undergraduate and graduate degree packages. You may order these items in advance of the Grad Finale and request “pickup” at any of the three sites the Grad Finale is held at. This is done online at the store web site: www.cwu.edu/~store. You may also have them shipped to you if you are not able to attend the Grad Finale. Ordering will be available starting March 17th from the store web site

The processional starts marching at 9:20a.m. Therefore, graduates need to start lining up by 8:30a.m.
A name card with your first and last name will be mailed to you. Please remember to bring your name card with you to commencement. This card also has your row number on it, and will be coded according to the ceremony you will be attending. Please line up according to row designation. We need to try and keep the rows as even as possible. You will present this card to a Dean who will announce your name when you march across the stage. If you wish to sit by a friend who is in another row, please exchange your row designation with someone else. If you have a difficult name to pronounce, tell the Dean the correct pronunciation as you hand him/her the card.
All students must be properly attired for commencement. Students who are not in the correct gown will not be allowed to participate. Gowns for undergraduates are CRIMSON. Masters gowns are BLACK. A University Store representative will be available at Tomlinson Field Saturday morning to assist those students who have cap and gown problems. Please wear comfortable shoes; we do not encourage high heels because you will be marching across the field and track.
Women may leave caps on during the entire program. Men please remove caps during the flag ceremony.
The tassel is worn over the right eye throughout the exercise. Tassels will be moved over the left eye when President McIntyre indicates confirmation of degree.
Summer 2007, Fall 2007, Winter 2008 and Spring 2008 candidates who are graduating with academic honors may pick up an honors tassel from Registrar Services or the Center Administration Office during final exam week. If you are not on campus you may pick up your tassel on Saturday morning at 8:15a.m near the graduate staging area. Masters and post-baccalaureate students are not eligible for honors. Summer 2008 commencement participants do not qualify for 2007-08 honors. Honors are based on the GPA of all credits earned at CWU, as well as all transfer credits accepted by CWU.
If you are graduating Spring or Summer 2008, your actual diploma will be mailed to your Home/Permanent address in Safari approximately ten weeks after the end of the quarter of graduation. If you already have received a diploma cover, we would appreciate the return of the cover after you walk across the stage. You can leave the extra cover on your chair.
Seating is available in the grandstand for 4,200 people. We anticipate a crowd of 5,000. "Lawn seating" will be available on the field. Encourage guests to bring a lawn chair. The track must be kept clear for the processional and recessional. Please inform your family and friends.
Entrances for persons of disability are on the north and south ends of the grandstand. Special seating is on the Northwest side of the field. Please look for the designated signs. Parking is available at Tomlinson Field for those with a disabled person state parking permit. Hearing-impaired people are requested to sit on the North side of the field to be near the interpreter who will be signing on the North side of the platform.
The commencement ceremony will be televised on Ellensburg's Channel Two if you wish to set your VCR (starting at 9:25 a.m. and lasting approximately two hours)
