College of Business 2008-2009 Catalog Changes

SUNSET CLAUSE :

“Business courses taken to fulfill the requirements for an undergraduate or graduate degree from the CWU College of Business must have been taken within the last 10 years at the time of graduation. Exceptions may be made, but must be approved prior to acceptance into the College of Business by the department chair and dean or designee.”

Accounting

  • Graduation requirements – 2.5 or higher in ALL collegiate studies
  • Preadmission GPA raised to 2.5 within 35 credits of preadmission courses and a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.5 in all collegiate studies.
  • Applicants must have completed all university general education requirements. Direct Transfer Associates degree can be used to fulfill CWU general education.
  • Residency requirements now read: Transfer students must earn at least 45 credits at CWU. Transfer students must complete at least 43 CWU business credits to be eligible for the accounting degree. Transfer students must complete at least 20 CWU upper division accounting credits to be eligible for the accounting degree.
  • ACCT 490 – Internships is a pre-approved elective in the program.
  • New course requirement: MGT 382 – Principles of Management has replaced the required MGT 380. The CB will honor any MGT 380 course taken prior to fall 2008 to substitute for the MGT 382 requirement.
  • New course requirement: MKT 362 – Essential Marketing Concepts has replaced the required MKT 360. The CB will honor any MKT 360 course taken prior to fall 2008 to substitute for the MKT 362 requirement.

Business Administration

  • New course requirement: MGT 382 – Principles of Management has replaced the required MGT 380. The CB will honor any MGT 380 course taken prior to fall 2008 to substitute for the MGT 382 requirement.
  • New course requirement: MKT 362 – Essential Marketing Concepts has replaced the required MKT 360. The CB will honor any MKT 360 course taken prior to fall 2008 to substitute for the MKT 362 requirement.
  • MGT 386 Principles of Organizational Behavior replaces MGT 481

Economics

  • Raised preadmission minimum cumulative GPA to 2.25 in all collegiate studies.
  • Additional Graduation Requirements: A cumulative grade point average of 2.25 in the program with a minimum grade of C- in each course (to include 300- and 400- level classes). The credit/no credit option will not be accepted for any of these courses. The student must have earned a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.25 in all collegiate study. These criteria also apply to equivalent courses transferred from other institutions.
