Mark is Ernst & Young's National Director of AABS Standards and Quality Control. In that role Mark heads the group responsible for assuring that the firm's assurance related guidance complies with professional standards and the firm's global internal quality control function.

Prior to Mark's appointment to his National office role in 1999, he served as a client service partner in the firm's San Francisco office where he was the partner responsible for the firm's world-wide services to Transamerica Corporation.

Mark's career included a two-year tour as a Practice Fellow at the Financial Accounting Standards Board (FASB) where he participated in the development of accounting guidance on a variety of issues. While at FASB, Mark was responsible for monitoring developments in the financial services industry and worked closely with the related American Institute of Certified Public Accountants Committees and industry trade groups, the Securities Exchange Commission and the FASB Emerging Issues Task Force.

Prior to his assignment to the San Francisco Office, Mark served in the firm's National Office as a technical consulting partner where he also authored and co-authored a number of articles on accounting topics.

Mark began his career in public accounting in 1973 in Ernst & Young's Seattle Office after graduating from Central Washington University where he received a Bachelor's degree in Business Administration.

Mark and his wife, Cindy, have two adult children. Mark enjoys golf, hunting, fly fishing and old corvettes.
