Michael Parrott

Michael Parrott is Vice President and General Merchandise Manager of Tires, Automotive and Hardware at Costco Wholesale, the world's largest Membership Club Retailer. In this capacity, he is responsible for:

  • Global Tire and Battery Purchasing. Leads all negotiation and purchase of these categories for all 7 countries where Costco operates.
  • U.S. Automotive and Hardware Business. Leads the buying merchandising team responsible for the negotiation, purchase and replenishment of items in these departments for all 367 United States locations.

Mr. Parrott assumed these responsibilities in March 2007. Prior to his most-recent appointment, he was Vice President of Global Purchasing and Strategic Businesses for 3 years. In that role he was responsible for:

  • Global Purchasing. Purchases Refrigeration and Fixed Assets globally.
  • Costco Business Delivery. Growing and profitable B2B arm of Costco.
  • Costco Home. Promising new Furniture & Electronics-Only retail concept.
  • Electronic Hardware Services. Refurbishes electronics returns and resells them to "e-tailers"/resellers.
  • Corporate Print Shop. Produces printed materials and Corporate apparel for Costco's nationally.
  • Corporate Sign Shop. Produces signs, banners and point-of-purchase material for Costco's nationally.

Prior to that, he was Costco's Director of Global Purchasing, a position that he had held since joining Costco in August 2000.

Mr. Parrott is a graduate of the University of Florida where he earned a degree in Marketing. After graduation, he spent the next 20 years at Procter & Gamble, makers of Tide, Crest, Pampers, etc., where he held a number of positions of increasing responsibility. In 1989, he was tapped to head up a new division at P&G focused on the small-but-growing Warehouse Club channel. In the capacity of Director - Warehouse Club Business Development, he was tasked to create the infrastructure and multi-functional resources to capitalize on this emerging channel. He was instrumental in helping P&G grow to leadership positions in most categories in the channel, and the Warehouse Club business unit has since grown to be the 2 nd largest unit within P&G.

Mr. Parrott left P&G in 2000 to join Costco, a company that he had work closely with and grown to respect during his career at P&G.

He is married, has a son who is a student-athlete at Gonzaga University, a daughter attending Community College and a high school-age daughter. He serves on both the Youth Eastside Services Board of Directors. He enjoys coaching and watching sports, playing tennis, skiing and is active in several mentoring programs.
