What is Omicron Delta Kappa(ODK)?
ODK is the national leadership honor society. ODK recognizes and encourages superior scholarship, leadership, exemplary character, and campus improvement. They also recognize and encourage achievement in scholarship; athletics; campus or community service, social and religious activities, and campus government; journalism, speech, and the mass media; creative and performing arts.
Why should I apply for membership?
ODK is a very prestigious national leadership honor society and is recognized by many as a "mark of distinction". Membership in ODK is life-long and is intended to be included on resume's, job applications, etc. ODK provides a vessel for recognizing leaders around campus, and being a member serves as high recognition in and of itself. ODK also provides an opportunity for personal and professional development.
What is the role of the faculty/staff member in ODK?
Active participation of faculty and administrative members of the Society in the Circle's activities and their hearty cooperation with student members is a feature of great importance in ODK. Their active and continuous affiliation with the Circles increases the stability and effectiveness of the Society. They also serve a mentoring role and provide counsel and guidance to student members.
What is the time commitment required for joining ODK?
ODK is not intended to make busy people busier. The time commitment will be fairly minimal. There are ODK meetings about once or twice a month in order to recognize leaders on campus and discuss new memberships. There is also one big event each year that ODK will sponsor.
How much is the membership fee?
The membership fee is $50.00. $40 will be sent to the national headquarters, and $10 will be retained for local operating costs. This fee covers a
lifetime membership.
How may I pay my membership fee?
Check or money orders only are accepted at this time. No Cash or CC's. We will hold all checks (in a safe) until members have been selected. If you are not selected, your check will be returned or shredded.
Who do I make the check payable to?
Make checks payable to Omicron Delta Kappa (or ODK)
When is the membership fee due?
The membership fee must be submitted with the membership application in order to be considered for membership.
What fields must I fill out on my membership application?
You must fill out all fields except "Initiation Date".
As a faculty/staff member, "GPA" can be left blank.
How many faculty/staff members will be accepted as members each year?
ODK is a very prestigious leadership honor society. The Society will only accept applications from faculty/staff members who truly wish to contribute and support CWU's ODK circle.
When will I find out if I have been accepted as a member of ODK?
You will find out no later than three weeks after the application due date.
