TARGET POPULATION: CWU StudentsMISSION STATEMENT:The mission of the Wildcat Wellness Center is to provide services within a framework of cultural competence to reduce high-risk behavior related to alcohol and drug misuse; to provide sexual assault prevention, response and advocacy; and to promote other positive health behaviors among all CWU students.
A core value of the WWC is that educational programs and services are developed through the application of scientific evidence and relevant research. The strategic plan of the Wildcat Wellness Center begins with the following four goal statements:
- Decrease the misuse of alcohol and marijuana by CWU students.
- Decrease the incidence of sexual assault and improve the sexual assault response to the CWU community.
- Promote positive health behaviors of CWU students through collaboration with other departments.
- Deliver all programs and services with respect and special attention to the racial, ethnic and other diverse backgrounds and needs of our students.
DESCRIPTION OF SERVICES/PROGRAM OBJECTIVE: The Wellness Center promotes healthy, positive lifestyles. The office offers classes and programs on alcohol and other drug abuse prevention and education and sexual assault response, education and prevention. The Center is an educational resource that provides information on issues such as stress management, sexual health, alcohol other drugs and violence. Classes include:
- Prime for Life: An eight hour educational curriculum that focuses on the prevention of alcohol related health, impairment, and addiction problems, required for students who have alcohol-related violations, on or off-campus.
- Alcohol Wise: Alcohol Wise is an online educational program that helps you look at your own drinking habits and provides tips on how to make low risk choices and how to deal with others who are disruptive or in danger.
- Under the Influence: A two hour Web-based class required for students who have a minor alcohol offense that violates the student code of conduct or the housing policy.
- Marijuana 101: A two hour online class typically assigned to students who violate state law or university policy with respect to marijuana.
COST OF SERVICES: Covered by the student health, counseling and wellness fee. (Except classes – see web site for more information)
HOURS OF OPERATION: Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM. Programs are often provided in the evening and some Saturdays as well.

EVALUATION: The Wildcat Wellness Center has a strategic planning process with specific goals and objectives. An outcome evaluation is done on an annual basis. The results are often prepared and made available in quarterly and annual reports.
